An Analysis of IDA Program Participation— Since 1997 SCOPP has operated one of the more successful IDA Programs in the country. In April of 2007, the Ohio State University partnered with the Ohio Community Development Corporation Association to learn more about the long-term impact of Individual Development Accounts (IDAs).  While IDAs have successfully helped low-income families buy homes, start businesses, and attend school, this research aims to explain the long-term  outcomes of participation in an IDA program by answering three specific questions:

 

1.  Does participation help individuals achieve long-term savings?

 

2. What factors affect long-term savings?

 

3. How do successful program participants differ from     those who left the program prior to completion.
