Canton OH – The Flight101 Jets Track and Field Club qualified 29 local athletes to the AAU Junior Olympic National Championships to be held at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans LA July 29 thru August 6, 2011.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, the Flight101 Jets traveled to Wittenberg University in Springfield OH to compete in the AAU Region 6A Track and Field Regional Championship Meet. Competing against athletes from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Kentucky, New Jersey and the rest of Ohio, the Jets qualified in 30 individual events and 4 relays. The Jets were led by gold medal performances in the sprints by Tobias Evans (Jackson Memorial Middle School) Chaneece Hall (Canton Elementary), Megan Mayle (Canton) in the high Jump and Alex Walls (Stow) in the Javelin. The Bantam Girls 4x100m relay team of Aniyah Hall, J’za Skinner, Vanessa Sales and Chaneece Hall and Youth Boys 4x100 with DeMarlo Fields, Razul Young, Malik Campbell and Tobias Evens also took first place.
This is the 4th consecutive year that the Jets have qualified 25 or more athletes to Nationals. The Jets will be joining thousands of athletes in New Orleans in a variety of sports ranging from Track and Field to Beach Volleyball all vying for the opportunity to be crowned National Champion.

After a record breaking season, SCOPP's Flight101 Youth Track and Field Club finished the summer off with it's awards picnic at Sluggers and Putters in Canal Fulton. Honored were this years AAU National medalist Katrina Rettburg for her 6th place finish in the high jump and Clinton Bentley III who finished 8th in the 200m dash. For more details.
